The FG-42 (Fallschirmjägergewehr 42) was a revolutionary select-fire battle rifle developed for German paratroopers (Fallschirmjäger) during WWII to solve the issue of dropping with only limited weaponry. It combined the role of a semi-automatic rifle, submachine gun, and light machine gun in one, firing the full-power \(7.92 \times 57\text{mm}\) Mauser cartridge.
