A Soviet AK-style miniature toy weapon accessory with a PGO-7V sight detail for historical figure displays and dioramas. Accessory only; figure is not included. This is not a functional firearm, and the sight detail is not a functioning optic.
Historical context: Afghanistan, 1979–1989
During the Soviet–Afghan War, long-range mountain fighting highlighted the limitations of iron sights. Dedicated small-arms optics, such as the PSO-1 used on the SVD sniper rifle, were not routinely available to standard infantry and vehicle crews.
RPG-7 launchers and their PGO-7V optics were more widely available, leading some soldiers to experiment with adapting these sights to Kalashnikov rifles.
- Magnification: The real PGO-7V offered 2.7× magnification, helping users observe distant terrain.
- Limitations: Its complex reticle was designed for RPG rocket ballistics, not rifle ammunition, making it an improvised rather than purpose-built rifle sight.
This historical background concerns the real equipment represented by the miniature, not the performance of the toy accessory.
