An SS-Obersturmführer (First Lieutenant) of the 29th Waffen-SS Grenadier Division – one of the few Waffen-SS units composed primarily of Italian volunteers, formed after the Italian armistice of 1943. The unit fought on the Italian Front until the end of the war.
